Your Life Isn’t Whack-A-Mole
Jan 22, 2025Do you ever feel like your life resembles that game at the fair?
The one where just when you hit all the creatures down, they keep popping back up. Until, inevitably, they pop up at a rate faster than you can whack them down, the timer runs out and you lose!
Let’s be honest, just when you get everything in place — the job, the kids, the house — something is bound to go awry and send your world spinning. Your boss wants to assign you to a new project that is in addition to your current responsibilities. The teacher sends a note home that there is ‘cause for concern’. Or just when you think you’re getting ahead, the boiler bursts in the middle of January with a costly, highly unplanned, price tag.
But what if it didn’t have to be this way?
What if this thinking was really just a by-product of your mindset and perspective?
And what if we could shift that mindset and perspective to allow you a bit more breathing room?
One where there was less chaos and more JOY. 🌟
What would a more expansive viewpoint look like?
Could you breathe a little deeper?
Could you put your phone down and your feet up?
Could you trust that it’s all going to work out?
I’ve been studying JOY for the past three years now since leaving my corporate VP role. Researching, interviewing, reading book after book. I’ve learned that there is a science to JOY.
Finding joy could be the key to stop feeling like you’re always whacking away at your problems, but instead you are choosing how you respond versus how you react. With this as a strategy, life becomes a whole lot more manageable.
Let me give you a peek behind the curtain: I’ve been working on my own definition of JOY. I’ve been refining and editing it and I’m ready to share it with you:
The benefits to JOY are many. Being able to access this profound and holistic sense of well-being and contentment will change you and, ultimately, your entire life.
The data of inner joy and its impact:
- Joyful people live an average of 7.5 years longer (Source: Mayo Clinic)
- Joyful emotions boost the immune system by 20-30% (Source: American Psychological Association)
- Experiencing joy regularly can reduce stress by 23% (Source: Sress.org)
- Those who report higher levels of joy and contentment experience a 50% reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms (Source:Journal of Positive Psychology)
- Feeling joy in personal life correlates to a 36% increase in relationship satisfaction (Source: Positive Psychology Center)
